Special Interest
Groups
Currently we seeking leaders for a few different
groups. These groups focus on specialties within the Performance domain
and are free to evolve organically and meet as desired. Other areas of
interest are
welcomed, From these groups, we hope to generate not only solid
conversation and learning - but also newsletter articles.
Systems Thinking
Systems Thinking represents a body of knowledge that
attempts to explain how systems and their parts interact. Complex
systems surround us: the economy, the ecosystem, the workplace are a
few familiar examples. We often think of such systems being rules by
events and external forces in very linear terms. but the
Systems Thinking approach looks more at interactions and
effects over time and the mental models behind the realities. Often
systems can be better understood through causal loops and archetypes,
and this group seeks to apply such techniques in problem solving.
Consulting
This group focuses on the challenges and techniques
beyond performance improvement aimed at driving successful encounters
with clients. This usually means acting more as a trusted advisor, and
suggests not only domain expertise but also relationship management and
the many tensions in serving both the client and your own firm. It also
looks at the various aspects of running a professional services
practice, whether acting as an individual or as part of a larger firm.
For small firms and free-lance consultants, the various aspects of
running the business(e.g. marketing, sales) are also included.
Training
Training is commonly how we gain initial access to
the
Performance Improvement engagement. Even during large efforts that
include a range of new changes, tools, and techniques, training is
commonly a critical part of the ongoing effort. This group looks at the
range of learning mechanisms and support systems, including Learning
Management Systems, Onsite Training, Job Aids, onboarding
processes, and more. |
