Welcome to the Presidents Page

Hi my name is Dan Hardin, I am the current president of the Seattle chapter of the ISPI.

Welcome to the Seattle Chapter of the IPSI website.

The purpose of the Seattle Chapter is to provide a place to share ideas and learn about the latest information related to the field of Human Performance Technology (HPT).

Dr. Thomas Gilbert, often referred to as the father of HPT, said… “One sure sign a technology has been created is when technicians appear.”

So what is it that Performance Technologists do?

Performance Technologists help organizations identify performance deficiencies in their workforce, then identify and implement the most cost effective and efficient solution or combination of solutions to correct the performance gap.

They use scientifically developed models based on research into human behavior (ever heard of Skinner and Pavlov?) and stay abreast of the latest technologies that can have a positive affect on performance.

They employ these technologies to improve performance.  They specialize in the development of traditional resident training or utilize the latest e-learning technologies. They are experts in the development of job performance aids and electronic performance support systems or the development of knowledge management systems.  They provide guidance in the development of motivation and incentives systems.  They provide training in leadership and management.  Anything to do with improving human performance should be in their toolbox.

Our goal is to provide a place to come together and share the experience of our local experts as well as inviting international experts to speak to our chapter.

Our goal is to help performance technologists fill their toolbox with the latest and most powerful tools to improve human performance.

I invite you to attend one of our chapter meetings or take advantage of one of our workshops.  The first hour of every chapter meeting is devoted to networking with others with an interest in the field of performance technology.  Building contacts with others in Seattle is a valuable way to learn what other organizations or consultants are doing in the field.  It is not unusual to get a lead on a new job or a consulting opportunity with a company in need of your expertise.

Please consider joining our chapter. As a member you help us keep the chapter alive and allow us to continue to provide a forum for the interchange of ideas in the field of performance improvement. Members attend chapter meetings for free and get discounts to workshops.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at president@seattleispi.org.

Thank

Dan Hardin
